| Subject: visitor visa to go to USA for a newly landed immig |

Anybody has already asked and received easily a visa to visit USA for 1 week or two after becoming permanent resident in Canada.
My wife needs to go back to China for a few weeks and it is cheaper to travel via USA. Moreover, we planned to go to NY for a week this summer. She landed in the middle of January 2005. Do you think that she could be given a multiple entry visa to USA easily even is she has been in Canada for less than 2 months. I was born in Canada. Anybody has heard about such a situation.

Your wife will have to take the appointment with the US consulate.
If she shows the Ticket to China I am sure that the US consulate will not be too much worried about it...
But then the case is weather you should get a ticket to China from US. What happens if you dont get the VISA... are you ready to take the risk...
The ideal thing would be get a ticket via US but on the same ticket make sure the ticket is from Torono to NYC to China to NYC to Toronto. This is an example if you are in Toronto and flying thru NYC.
If this is the case then US consulate will give the visa for sure... innitially ask for a US transit visa and if the officer is in a good mood you may get a visitor visa itself.

I would appreciate if you would let me know if your wife gets a visa. I will be landing soon in Toronto and would like to see my chances of getting a visitor visa to the US to go with my husband for a vacation.
