| Subject: Autistic Canadian Citizen-no relief for parents!!! |

I am writing to find any assistance on any potential forms of immigration relief for a family from Sri Lanka, and their Canadian Citizen daughter who is currently 16 years old and is severely Autistic. As their advocate, and social worker, I have reached stumbling blocks in getting the daughter services in the United States because they are undocumented.
The family lived in Canada for 6 years, fighting their refugee claim, which was eventually, was denied. Their application for humanitarian parole was also denied after the daughter´s birth; however they did not know at that time that their daughter was autistic. They family was issued orders of removal and had to leave Canada, even though they had a citizen child.
They have been residing in the US for over 10 years, with no forms of relief and especially services for their daughter is lacking.
I reached out to the Canadian Consulate Services, and was told that they cannot help this child nor can they help this family. This child is in severe need of services, and is unable to articulate her needs. I was told that the family should contact Canadian immigration services to file an application.
I do not know what that application may be, and I am reaching out to anyone that can recommend/advise me on how I can assist this family.
The child cannot be sent to Canada alone, as she is unable to be by herself. Her parents are her legal guardians, and as such we feel that in the interest the child, to go back to Canada and obtain services, and hopefully work to have her parents obtain some form of relief based on something like the humanitarian parole. If they move to Sri Lanka, the child will most likely be placed in a mental institution, or even be shunned from her community.

Canadian citizenship law will be changed next year. No citizenship will be granted to a child who was born in Canada but from a family lacking certain immigration status.
