Subject: one way travel |
I just want to confirm that Canada will allow my client to travel into the territory on a one way ticket from Jamaica. She has a student visa.
Thank you!

(in reply to: one way travel) Chances are the airline may not let her board the airplane. As a temporary student, she doesn´t have the right to enter Canada. The CBSA officer will make the final decision at the port of entry.
CBSA likely will be ok with it as long as there are no complications when granting her study permit at the POE. specially if her permit is for more than a year, since it is almost impossible to get an open ticket for that long.
The airlines on the other hand, will allow people to board the plane with one way tickets only to Permanent Residents and Canadian Citizens.
If a temporary resident gets refused of entry then the airline is on the hook for the cost of returning the foreign national to their country of origin, that´s why.

one way student travel (in reply to: one way travel) first thank you for your reply. Secondly, are you saying that though she has a student visa and will be studying for two years that they may still turn her back?
