This is my situation. I was born in the philippines and now a permanent resident of Canada. When I was still in the Philippines I have a boyfriend for 6 yrs. When I came here on Aug.2011 I was pregnant, so I did not look for a job, since my boyfriend who is still in the Philippines is supporting me. Then, on dec2011 i gave birth. After, 4 months, my boyfriend bought me a ticket for me to return home on april 2012. We got married on June 2012, then I go back to canada by the end of july. Now, my question is, am I qualified to sponsor my husband? I just got a part time job. I am pretty sure that my husband, once he is here, can support us. Will the govt of canada check if i can support him if i sponsor him? What should i do? I tried calling immigration to ask for advice, but i just cant go through. I hope someone can help me. please. thank you

Sponsor husband (in reply to: Sponsoring husband) Dear Madame,
If you are sponsoring only your husband, there is no minimum income requirement. I hope this helps.

(in reply to: Sponsoring husband) Get an offer of employment for your husband and include it with your application to overcome IRPA section 39. Certain Visa Posts will still refuse if there is no evidence that you can not support him without resorting to welfare.
