Subject: Declaring my Marrige
  Hello Everyone,

I need your help in something please.

I Have landed to Canada on June 2006 and got married few months after (I had no relation with my wife before landing) my wife is living in India. I honestly don´t remember if i have informed CIC regarding my marriage or not. I became citizen in 2011

My concern is .. How can i check if i did declare her with CIC or not. If i didn´t will there be any issue for me?

Thank You brothers

Kamal

SIX YEARS AFTER YOUR LANDING YOU ARE ASKING THIS QUESTION?

Start by asking your wife if she ever submitted any documents. If your wife never had a medical you did not declare her probably.

he married after he landed (according to his post) so there is technically nothing to report unless he is wanting her to come to Canada which means he must initiate sponsorship. That will be a tough sell - 6 years?

Hi Roy,

Well she used to visit me in Canada under TRV visa almost every year but she never did a medical check and never applied for immigration. She did not want to move to Canada that´s why i didn´t bother about declaring as i didn´t know that i MUST do so!!

Is it a problem to do it now?

Kamal, if you try to sponsor your wife now, CIC will ask for an explanation why it is so late. If you tell them "I intended to leave Canada earlier, but plans have changed", I think that is a good enough explanation.

You have not done anything illegal by not declaring your marriage (which happened after you became PR).

Sorry I saw your posting as similar to the previous guy who married a woman in Canada and was applying for Landing in Canada. Yet was leaving/abandoning her to run to the States.

Thanks for the call and take the advice I gave you and what others said but it will be needed to explain logically in detail the reason for the delay. Any kids born after you became Canadian can apply for citizenship.

I say abandon this whole charade and just be single. You can send her cash every month; to do this, I suggest you use Western Union... Enjoy good times..:)
