Subject: Sponsoring Difference |
Hi All,
I just have a question regarding sponsoring ..
What is the difference in terms of (Time, Requirements, regulations .. etc) between sponsoring a spouse while the sponsor person is living in Canada and while living abroad?
Thanks a lot
John

(in reply to: Sponsoring Difference) See processing times here:

(in reply to: Sponsoring Difference) Sponsored spouse can apply for a work permit if taking the inland route but there is no right of appeal to the IRB if the case is refused. Applicant is required to maintain temp resident status in Canada throughout the process. If they leave Canada mid-process they risk a closure of the file.
If the applicant is not from TRV required country I don´t see a reason to go with inland application.
In most cases inland will be slower but the processing times in some visa offices ballooned to a point it takes away the time advantage of applying through CPC-Mississauga->visa office in the overseas process.

(in reply to: Sponsoring Difference) No difference in time when the Sponsor is living in a foreign country or Canada.
The sponsor will have to show evidence of their intention to return to Canada and plans for the future.
