My canadian bf will come and visit me here in Philippines and i have a multiple entry visa..after he will visit philippines and see my family i will also visit canada to see his family..we also plan to get married. Should we get married in canada or in philippines? which is more faster to process? is it okay to marry him while im on visit visa status in canada?

A visitor is supposed to VISIT Canada. It means that you are supposed to leave the country at the end of your visit.

You can get married wherever you want but you should apply for your immigrant visa to obtain a permanent resident status OUTSIDE OF CANADA.

If you submit the application from abroad, it is faster and better for both of you.

Visit Canada if you want, get married here and go back to your home county, apply and then come back.

Or even better, get married in your home country, apply from there and move to Canada once the application has been processed and approved.

Filipinos women have an image that you will have to overcome. In fact any country were individuals will do almost anything to get out of have an uphill battle to prove the marriage is genuine.

Now you can have the best of both worlds as well. If you can get to Canada you can get married while here and apply outside of Canada through the Manila visa post while sharing a bed with your new husband in Canada.

Look to the processing times to complete 80% of all spousal sponsorship´s (9 months) which means if you do a quality application you could be finalized as early as four months.

Visiting and Getting Married (in reply to: Is it okay to marry while im on visit visa?)
I understand that a visit should remain a visit but oftentimes it is hard to end the visit after getting married. Do you not agree? I visited my boyfriend in Australia at Christmastime and came home after a week because I had to go back to work. He decided to come and visit me for an extended period of time in January(he is an interstate truck driver and was told he could come back to his job anytime he wanted) When he came to me we decided to marry and I must tell you there is no way I can ever let him go. I sent the sponsorship and PR app in with all monies paid, medical, police check, OWP app and they have transferred the file to Hamilton Oct. 1. It was received by CIC March 12 and it took them 7 months (AIP decision time) to decide to transfer the file. I am taking your advice and I am sending the Hamilton office 14 new documents which support genuineness of this marriage which mainly include name change, joint bank account and visa, car insurance, utility bills, extended benefits, supporting letters from family, friends and coworkers. Recent pictures with family and a job offer. Since nobody at the CIC can explain what needs further assessment, my best guess is genuineness since neither of us has a flawed background, are children are all grown and independent and my husband is an Australian who speaks fluent English. I ordered FOSS notes but my understanding is that they take up to 30 days to process. I respect your opinion and would appreciate anything you could tell me about transfers to the Hamilton office. Thanks a bunch... Donna
