Subject: Refugee Processing Time |

We have heard many reports about the new legislation that would require processing of refugees to be much faster than the way the process seemed to drag on for years in the past. I was wondering if this has kicked in yet and things are moving. I understand the safe country status has not been determined yet. If someone were to make a claim now from a country where there was a reasonable possibility that the claim was legit (say Libya or Syria), what kind of time line are they looking at. Thanks

processing time (in reply to: Refugee Processing Time) I did note that before but have heard some people from particularly unpleasant places are being processed and accepted very quickly; heard of one being accepted within four months. Haven`t heard of anyone being quickly rejected even with an iffy case or from an obviously safe country so it seems things are moving better but just wondered if that is generally true.
