Subject: Marriage in Greece or in Canada
  Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me with a few questions I have.
I am a Greek-Canadian citizen. I live in Greece. I am engaged to be married. My Greek fiancee and I decided to come to live and work in Canada.

Which is the fastest way for both of us to be in Canada together and working.Should we get married in Greece and sponsor him from outside of Canada? Does it take up to 18 months?

Obviously if he visits me in Canada and we get married, on his 6month visiting visa, it will not look to good when I sponsor him from within Canada. If I understood correctly, he will be able to stay in Canada while the application is being processed, but he will not be able to work?

If he does manage to get a temporary work permit while we are in Greece, could we get married in Canada and apply for permanent residence while he is on temporary work permit?Or first get married in Greece. But,I think then temporary work permit will be invalid.

Thank you in advance for your time and answers.

As long as your marriage is recognized by the country as legal where performed you do not have a problem. The issue will be have you ever submitted your income tax regardless of where the sponsor resides so as to obtain an Option C from Revenue Canada.

Any processing times mentioned on CIC site are based on 80% completed which would include all those kicked for an interview.
