Subject: Guardians for an American Child
My wife and I are permanent residents in Canada and American citizens. Our friends, American citizens, want to make us the legal guardian for their children. If a tragedy occurs and we need to take guardianship over their children, will the children be able to join us in Canada? Would we be able to take them immediately or would we have to wait for an immigration process to be completed?

Thank you.

If the children come to Canada as a visitor or student, you be guardians.

If they are orphans, they need to be adopted.
