Subject: Question on negative refugee claimant and sponsor |
|
|
|
Quick timeline;
Applied for refugee May 2011
Hearing Jan 2012 (negative decision)
Inland spousal sponsorship submitted Jan 2012 before hearing.
AIP September 2012
Letter from CBSA in Nov. 2012 come to GTEC in Dec. 2012
So I went to GTEC for what I thought to be a PRRA hearing or chance to apply for PRRA (not sure what you call it). But once I got there, it was more like "we´ll give you 2 months to leave."
What surprised me even further was that they had it on their file that I had a sponsorship case in process but they didn´t know that I was AIP. I showed them the letter and they quickly changed their tone and attitude.
So the question here is, is PRRA no longer an option?
Also in a case for someone who doesn´t have AIP, will CBSA proceed with removal despite having inland sponsorship in process?

(in reply to: Question on negative refugee claimant and sponsor) Right - you don´t qualify for PRRA since your refugee application was refused less than twelve months ago.
