I want to apply for immigration under FSW. I have taken IELTS in 2008. My score was 6.5 (ACADEMIC). Do I need to take another test.

Yes - you need to take the test again.

The results are only valid for two years for immigration purposes.

In addition, only general IELTS is accepted for immigration purposes. Don´t take academic.

and....

for each part/section of the test you require to score at least 6.0

If you score 5.5 for speaking part and 7.0 for three others, you need to retake again.

Its silly...

Why is it silly. Don`t you think that someone should have to be able to speak, read and write. Someone could be a completely fluent speaker but their poor reading skills will kill their ability to get all but the lowest level job.
