Subject: What is "equivalent part time" experience?
  Hi guys,

The CIC Web site says "full time" or "equivalent part time" experience counts toward points. Can anyone tell me if they have successfully used part time experience in CIC applications? Also how specific do letters testifying to employment need to be in work descriptions?

I have no idea, however I do believe that means if you have let??s say 20 hours part-time job for two years, then it actually has same points as one-year full-time job.
In the letter, simply just indicated how many hours do you work in that part-time position.

Yes, this concerns mostly students or researchers. 20 hours work is considered part-time = half the full-time credit.

If you worked a regular 9-5 job or close then it is full time

I had the same problem (in reply to: What is "equivalent part time" experience?)
I was in the same boat...

I spoke to 3 lawyers on this forum and I came to know that...

1) Part time experience can be counted towards the requirement of a minimum 1 yrs of experience

2) a full time week is considered as 44 hrs/week.

Now ,
44 hrs/week x 52 weeks = 2,288 hrs

So if you have 2288 hours of work weather part-time or full-time or combination of both then you can claim a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience.

Cheers,

I heard that the work experience should be continuous for one year (or the part-time equivalent).

Can you do a job in one category for 8 months and another category for 4 months and add them up to 12 months?

Zeus,

If they both qualify under the NOC list, I don´t see why you couldn´t add them up.
