Subject: TRV for Wife and PR
  Hello All,

I have been working in Canada for the past 3 years on a Work Permit and have recently got my Work Permit renewed for the 4th year.

I have been contemplating applying for a PR here and have made up my mind to do so. I recently got married in India and my wife is still there. I intend to apply for a dependent TRV for her as other colleagues in my organization have done. I also am looking at submitting papers for my PR that includes my wife´s details as a dependent.

I would like to know if
a) I can start both processes simultaneously without affecting the other
b) If not, then which one should I start first - Dependent TRV? And once she gets in here, then apply for a PR?

Thanks and Regards,
Rahul

Rahul Dual intent is logical and not against the act or regulations.

Why would any husband not want to wake up under the same roof in the same bed with his new wife?

She is entitled to a open work permit as long as your in a NOC O, A or B occupation. Make sure you send proof of employment from your employer, latest pay stub along with a copy of your current work permit.

Is it not logical that your new wife would want to see what Canada is all about from her own perspective before you apply for permanent resident status in a foreign country?

Thanks for replying Roy. If I understand your reply correctly, then, legally it should not be an issue to start processing her Open Work Permit and our PR application simultaneously. However you suggest that she see the place before applying for PR.

Rahul

Google IRPR Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations then look at regulation 4. You have to prove your relationship is genuine and that your new wife is not using you to just get into Canada.

Lets say she is gorgeous, uneducated but from a remote little village or highly educated world traveler. Regardless she had to know of your plans before marriage. Therefore it is only logical that any woman would want to clearly know what Canada is really like from their own perspective.

The work permit application goes to New Delhi visa post and the PR application first goes to the Central Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Sydney takes at least eight months and the work permit application takes days to process.

No one can tell you what to do. Your decision has to be totally based on your own personal situations.
