My friend is a hungarian refugee and we need to know how much time he has if he can´t get the landed status.He goes to trial at the end of January and he doesn´t know if he has weeks or months in Canada if he has to go home.

It all depends.
It could take 30 days after the decision is made or he can put in custody the same day and if he has all his travel documents in order, then he can be removed from Canada in matter of days.

Well I´m not a big fan of bogus refugee claimants but no one knows for sure until the evidence is heard.
There is good advice and bad.
This advice is extremely misleading.
There are many Hungarian Refugee claimants being accepted there are some that abuse the system.
Either way you can understand his chances by reading the area of concerns that the IRB member will focus on as well the time allotted for the hearing. This information will have already been sent to him.
Now the chance of a decision issued from the bench is close to nil. Most members take around six months to render a decision. Then if negative you still have an additional 30 days to leave on your departure order with no adverse effects.
