Subject: Delay in processing due to ommission
  Hello,

I am sponsoring my husband through the In Canada sponsorship route. We sent our application last January but received a letter in September asking for additional documents. We sent the documents a few days later but it has been 4 months (the current processing time is 6 months for new applications!) and we have not heard anything from CIC. Has anyone been in this situation? Does anyone know what is the average delay that I should expect?

Thanks!

Dealing with CIC is like making dinner. If you forget to include an item the meal will normally not taste that great.

Instead on focusing on when dinner will be ready go back and make some sauce to enhance your meal.

I understand you want to get on with your futures but do not think for a second that your entitled to have your partner here unless you prove your relationship is genuine.

Hi Roy,

The mistake we made was that we checked the ´previously was in married/common-law relationship´ tick box without specifying which one it was. In reality, it was just a 4-year relationship and not a marriage. We replied with an explanation of the situation. We did send them a ton of pictures and evidence along with the application.

Do you know approximately how long this normally sets people back? Are we talking weeks, months, or would we go back to the beginning of the queue?

@AD

You got caught same as my client Felicia Jogbro when we won her 117 (9) (d) spousal refusal because they said her partner was not declared and examined before she got landed.

The problem is what the Officer and you considers to be common law relationship and what the LAW says is a common law relationship. As soon as I get the written decision I will try to post same.

If you´re living with someone because the relationship has grown that far does not necessarily mean it has become a common law relationship.

After three dates there is normally sex as Howard from Big Bang Theory learned. Then comes living together because one or the both are not ready to say will you marry me. The relationship can stall at that stage because one or both are not willing to take it to the next level for a bunch of reasons or just one reason. So two people can live together enjoying each others bodies but have no future plans and definitely not be in a conjugal committed future relationship.

Time frame depends on which office has your file and more important which officer has to review your evidence. Stay positive and if you have additional evidence of a genuine and continuing relationship submit same.

cost (in reply to: Delay in processing due to ommission)
Hello Roy, I have noticed that in many of your answers you suggest obtaining a lawyer to help in the process. Do you have any idea how much this was cost from start to finish?

declared about change inmarital status but cic didnt respond (in reply to: Delay in processing due to ommission)
i have received my visa in feb 2013 and got married in june 2013. couple of days before marriage i have mailed chc, new delhi that i am about to get married and would like to know the procedure of adding spouse in my pr as i have already received my visa approved. They did not respond to that mail. I have mailed almost 6 times to update that i got married and i have permanent job offer in Canada which would be starting in Aug and would like to do the landing formalities before august. yet i did not receive reply for any one the mails. As i could not leave the job offer i did my anding formalities on aug 08, i have again informed the port of entry officer that i got married and tried to update the chc,new delhi but they did not respond and i have email proof for the same and can show her. she did not want to c the mail or documentory proof but just stated that system have not been updated. i have asked her can i sponsor her later and she said yes i can.

I have consulted two registered agent one says i can not as i did not get my documents(landing documents) updated before i landed and other says you updated them but they did not respond and also updated the POE officer about the status. you did ur job so you can sponsor her.

now my question is can do my family sponsor visa for my spouse?

quick help would be appreciated.
