Its been almost 72 months that I´ve applied for Canadian Immigration. Later on after submission all the documents that cic office asked I´ve sent my original passport. Then again I´ve received mail that they are returning my original passport coz they have to go through background check. It´s really frustrating to wait for so long. Usually how long does it take for this background check and for decision.
Thanks

(in reply to: Background Check) It varies on your country, and many other factors. Such as military duty, counrties of residence in your history ect.

(in reply to: Background Check) Thanks Sara!!!
But why they ask for original passport and later returned that one? Usually how many days does it take for this background check. I would like to go as soon as possible. But don´t know why it´s keep on delaying.
Thanks

(in reply to: Background Check) I cannot say for sure why they would request it then return it. Is it possible the request was for a copy not the original?
Could you give me a few more details of your application?
VO?
APP FILED?(dates,type of app ect)
72 months is an extremely long time. More information would be helpful.

(in reply to: Background Check) Thanks Sara,
I had applied in 2007, and they asked me to do medical on early 2012, and I didn’t hear anything for 8 months. I found one link in cic website stating that we can make a complaint if application is not proceeded within deadline.
I wrote in that link stating that I didn’t hear anything from cic, after that immediately they sent mail asking me to send few documents. They asked me police report from one country which I have never visited. I informed them about it and they said to skip that police report. At that time I sent photocopy of my original passport and RPRF draft as per their request. After a week again the asked me to send 3 copies of recent photographs, home country police report and original passport and I sent the same as well and yesterday I received a mail stating that they are returning my original passport since they need to do my background check.
Thanks

(in reply to: Background Check) I am sorry to hear all of the problems you are having.
Did anything change with regards to your criminal record?
What country are you applying from. (If you don´t mind me asking)
There is a great site that perhaps will be more useful to you than this one.
Www.canadavisa. com try it.
Good luck!
