Subject: Active Tuberculosis
My panel physician diagnosed my X-ray with active TB and has referred me for further examination of AFB smear and 6-8 week TB culture of my sputum. What would this mean in terms of the medical processing for me? If at all it is indeed TB then it is also known that TB is a curable disease, is that acknowledged?

Yes - it´s acknowledged that TB is a curable disease.

If you have active TB, you have to be fully cured before you can be approved for a visa.

So would it mean that only on the basis of the medical, my application will not be denied? Would this mean the process would be delayed or kept on hold until the disease is cured? Surprisingly, I do not have any symptomps of TB but the same was reflected on the X - Ray..

Yes, indeed.

1. The applicant takes measures to be cured, e.g. taking medicine or referred to a special clinic.

2. Designated Medical Examiner will send the completed form to CIC.

3. CIC will send the applicant In or Out-Canada public health follow-up:

Dear Madame or sir

Your immigration medical examination has shown that you have evidence of previous TB which has been cured.

---You are required to telephone public health authority of residence....

During the landing, the applicant is to be asked about this medical condition.

If nothing else, you will cure yourself from that disease and have a better life... go ahead get cured first.

Please advice!!!....I have been in Canada since Jan 2011, I was diagnosed with pneumonia in Dec 2012 only to be confirmed as a non contagious TB in Jan 2013, I have been on Treatment since then. I did my medical for permanent residence this April, my chest is yet to clear but am not a threat to the society. Can my application be delayed or refused because of this?
