I am working in Canada on a work permit. My wife has an open work permit. Can she start her own business?

As recommended my friends I used services of Lanier Law Firm Toronto (in reply to: Opening a business while on Spousal Open Work Perm) My name is Jamal. I came to Vancouver from Somalia. As recommended my friends I used services of Lanier Law Firm Toronto. Thanks to them, I came to Vancouver in November. In the beginning, I agreed with them on one amount, but when I came they asked me to pay more and more – so I haven’t had possibility to pay and I still owe them money. Now I’m working as assistant cook at a local restaurant and every month I pay them remaining debts. Now I want my wife to arrive here. But I don’t want use their services. If she will arrive to me as a tourist through U.S. , can I leave her here forever?
Who knows? Thank you in advance!

Anyone can start a business in Canada, especially if your a self proprietor. If you want to incorporate you can only own 49% of the business without permanent status.

You hired an Immigration Law Firm that the Attorneys only seem to practice Family Law. http://lanierlawfirmtoronto.com/lanier%20law%20firm%20Attorneys-5
This question should be asked of the "LAW" Firm you retained.

(in reply to: Opening a business while on Spousal Open Work Perm) Hi Roy,
Thank you for answering... If she want to keep be the sole priorieter without incorporating... would she be still eligible...
OR would I need to have someone who is a PR or citizen to be a partner and hold the 51% stake?
Thank you again for our help.
Omi.
