Subject: Sponsoring my husband to Canada, and Unemployment
Hello! I have permanent employment, but I get laid off for 2 months of the year (July and August). Can I collect Unemployment Insurance, for the 2 months, and still be able to sponsor my husband. I also have a baby with him. The baby is Canadian.

The lack of Income or Unemployment is not a restriction to Sponsorship. Income is not an issue when sponsoring a spouse or dependent child as long as their is evidence that he/she will not end up on welfare.

Plans for the future and showing an opportunity for employment of your partner would greatly increase his chances of success.

Family reunification is a key factor of Canadian immigration and citizenship. There are plenty of rules and regulations for family sponsorship. Consult a good immigration law firm and they will be able to guide you with the immigration formalities. < http://www.gands.com/canadian-immigration/family-class/ >
