Hello,
I have an affidavit and police reports that are in Kiswahilli. I would like to update my H&C application. Would it be okay to submit them in Kiswahilli, and they translate it themselves? Or do i have to translate it myself before submitting it? Also, Roy could you please check your spam mail as you should have an email from me.
A reply as soon as possible would be great.

All documents must be translated into French or English they will not translate anything.

These days, CIC wants documents translated in English or French by certified translators in Canada.
A foreign Police Clearance must be translated by an accredited Canadian translator. Unless original requested, all copies must be certified by their countries of embassy of high commissions.

Roy,
Only a member in good standing of a "XYZ body" can certified documents. I.e Lawyers, Engineers, Translators.

It is a requirement.
CIC/CBSA understands that a Certified translator is:
A member in good standing of a provincial or territorial organization of translators and interpreters in Canada.
It is in the glossary.

Come on Doc´d you been getting rained on too much lately out there in Alberta?
Did you actually read my response "Canadian Certified Translator" then you go on to state what is a (certified translator) and I agree.
No where does it state in the Act or the Regulations that every document submitted must be translated by a CANADIAN. Nor a Canadian Certified Translator.
YOUR GLOSSARY STATES!!!!
Certified English or French translations
To have a copy certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
"I certify that this is a true copy of the original document"
the name of the original document
the date of the certification
his or her name
his or her official position or title and
his or her signature

When you´re wrong accept it.
Anyone that states in a statutory declaration or affidavit that they are fluent in one of Canada´s Official languages plus the language of the document is acceptable.
