Roy, Just curious. Do you endorse the method suggested in a pasted link or considering it as offensive?

So polite should I shy away from your question? Nope not concerned I fully endorse the method.

Only Permanent Residents from countries whose citizens require Visitor Visas require PR Cards to board a flight to return to Canada.

Those that have flown home after living here for more than a decade or even three years are being refused a single entry visa because they can´t prove to Embassy staff that they have resided in Canada.

If you Baki get caught driving without your drivers license you can pay the ticket or go to court, if you get caught speeding you can pay the ticket or fight it in court, if you get caught with an expired drivers license you can accept the punishment or explain your situation in a court.

Why should not these Permanent Residents be afforded the same right. We do not allow Police Officers in Canada to be the Judge, Jury and Executioners.

Any non-married Permanent Resident who finds themselves in a foreign country with an expired PR card will find it virtually impossible to establish that they have been physically present in Canada for the required period. They deserve their day in court.

Imagine your Mother is gravely ill and you rush home not realizing your PR card is about to expire. Your Mother recovers and you want to head back to Canada. The airline will not let you board the flight and the Visa Post wants all kinds of proof you have been residing in Canada which you can not obtain.

You have been residing in Canada but can not prove same to the satisfaction of that Visa Employee without sufficient evidence.

These people who have maintained their residency deserve their right of appeal.

I support the blog comment, I wrote it.

PR Card Expiry (in reply to: Expired PR Card - Need to re-enter?)
Dear Roy,

I did my landing in June 2010 and came back after 22 days stay in Toronto. I didn´t want to settle at that time.

Today I am contemplating to go to Canada, I have 2yrs left on my PR card.

If I start my process of coming to Canada today, I can move in the next 2-4 months time. Do you advice that I should first write to the immigration authorities about the time that is left OR I should come, stay there for the time that is available and in the due course extend my PR card.

Looking forward to your reply OR anyother advice from your side.

Rgds
