Subject: Certificat de Selection du Quebec

I received a letter from the embassy today, requesting the "Certificat de Selection du Quebec"... what´s that?! Although I indicated Quebec as my destination, I applied to the Federal Program, not the provincial one.

How can I get that Certificate??? Any help is much appreciated.

Quebec has its own rules about immigration so if you put Quebec as your destination, you need to be selected by Quebec... You should have carefully read the materials from the Embassy before !!! Good luck in resolving the problem now...

before you do that... send a letter stating you did not realize Quebec was not an option. I did not know that either. Seems bizarre. Quebec immigration does not force you to remain in Quebec. You would think the reverse applies.

Welcome to Canada! Quebec wants all the good stuff and wants to be its own county at the same time. Canadians are so polite we say OK!

Hi Sharon, thanks for your encouragement!

I reviewed the Federal Skilled Worker guide and it does not mention any special forms or documents for Quebec so I guess I have the right to say something... it really gives me some hope!

Do you think it´s ok if I send a letter and also the main application forms stating that I want to go to another city and province?

In regards to the following:

"Welcome to Canada! Quebec wants all the good stuff and wants to be its own county at the same time. Canadians are so polite we say OK!"

Where is it coming from ????
Little constitutional law: based on the Constitution, each and every province has the option of determining who can immigrate in their own province. Quebec is the only one who decided to use their consitutional right, mainly because they want people that do speak at least some French... They are not asking for "all the good stuff"

In regards to the second point, the plurality of Quebecois, by voting to different referundums, have decided to go agaisnt independence via-a-vis Canada. So, again, you are wrong when you are syaing that "they want to be its own county at the same time."

Please, in the future, double-check your facts.
And no I am not a Quebecois, just someone who likes to remind what the facts are, not stereotypes.

if Quebec wants to exclude all CIC applicants other than the ones they select then they should sign a contract with those applicants that they must stay in Quebec for a specific length of time. I resist Quebec being used as a back door into the rest of Canada because their wait times are shorter.

As for the rest... I was speaking in global terms not immigration terms and I am pretty confident with my information.

People who applied for CSQ usually do not intend to go somewhere else in Canada. In addition, the process is shorter with CIC as they have a first selection to pass. You need to take into account the time spent within La Direction Generale du Quebec. The process is also shorter with CIC as you are not judged with the same criteria.

I am glad you have your "sources" but they contradict what the plurality of the Quebecois want: they do not want independence, just respect of differences.
