Subject: marrige between U.S. and Canada
ok so i´m 18 and my girlfriend is 16. we´ve been together for a year and a half and due to a lot of fucked up circumstances on both ends our best option at this point is to get married. I don´t really give a shit where i live but she wants to stay in canada. i know that its going to a complicated process but we are both extreamly mature for our age and have thought about this really hard its what we want so my question here is how would we go about this? how should i prepare, and what is the absolute fastest way we can get this done? any other useful info pertaining to this would be greatly appreciated as well. thanks

If you want to live in Canada permanently, then you will need to become a permanent resident. Normally your girlfriend would be able to sponsor you as her spouse as soon as you are married - however her age is a problem. She won´t qualify to sponsor you until she is 18. You can find out more about the sponsorship process here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

Since you can´t be sponsored through family class for a few years, your realistic alternatives are either to come to Canada temporarily on a study permit to continue your studies here full time (this is a very expensive option and you´ll need to show a bank balance of $25K to $30K just to qualify for the study permit). Or you´ll need to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a job and go through all of the paperwork to hire a foreign worker. You will then be able to come to Canada on a temporary work permit.

Ok you sound like a mental midget, with all that cussing and hissing! And she may need her parental guidance, obviously you guys needed no such guidance for mating and bringing a baby into the world, but she is right: Canada is better because there is public healthcare, just in case the baby needs medical help. You can visit Canada, marry her and then apply for residency. good luck.

I don´t know well enough to judge your decision. Speaking from legal aspect, your marriage will be allowed and accepted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada only if the sponsor is over 18 years of age or older. It is not clear who lives in Canada and who lives in U.S. If you live in Canada and wish to get married and sponsor your 16 year old spouse you may to do so. However, it cannot be done in vice versa as she doesn´t qualify minimum age limit to be a sponsor. If you have further question you can email me at canada@clickimmigration.ca Best of luck

Sorry - post didn´t come out clearly.

You need to Google "getting married in" + the name of the province you want to get married in
