| Subject: Sponsor a spouse to canada |
Hello:
I live in US but am a canadian citizen by birth. I would like to sponsor my spouse (while I am still in US) to come to canada and then a month before he comes to canada (hoping) I will move to canada.
Are there any rules saying that I can not do this?

Is the processing time longer if I sponsor my spouse to come to canada while I am living in the US?

Hey Rita,
I am in the same sitation. I have already applied for my spouse while i am in U.S but will be moving to Canada shortly. I spoke to my lawyer and she said it takes the same amount of time as someone applying from within canada. Can anyone who went through the same sitation post their timeline? Thanks

Hello, I have found myself in somewhat simalar situation. I a US citizen newly engaged to a Canadian Citizen both residing in our perspective countries.
If he comes to the states and we marry. Would it be possible to apply for Canadian permant residency while we are living outside of Canada together? Would he need to be back and employed in Canada first?
Obviously, we do not want to be apart after we are married. Also, I have a large amount of student loan dept that requires a dual income. Hoping there is away to move sure what the best course of action would be.
