Subject: Citizenship application - Leaving to the US
  hi everyone,

I got eligible to apply for my citizenship earlier this month and i am sending my application later this week. I have a question about the stay after applying. I am leaving to the US to develop a team in Seattle and my company is looking to move me there for an year or 2 while my citizenship is under processing here. will there be any problems to my citizenship application ? will i get refused because iŽll be living in Seattle ?

Appreciate your help

Thanks!
Shakthi

Yes, I see some problems that you might run into.

At the time of your test, it will be noticed that you are living abroad. This may cause a "residence questionnaire" to you, your application will be treated as non-routine and may cause great delays.

Second, bill C-24 is about to be passed soon, which includes "an intent to reside" clause. CIC can potentially decide to impose this requirement on existing applications, although that´s unlikely. But if that happens, your living abroad will violate this requirement and your application may be rejected.

Good luck!
