Subject: Can i get married while waiting for the PR?
  Hi peeps,

I submitted my application last July of 2002 and the embassy returned it since they need a proof of my English proficiency. I passed a letter stating my proofs and re-submitted it last January 2003. My file number was released to me ;ast April of 2003. Until now no notice have arrived. I am still awaiting for a next notice whether my interview will be waived (hopefully...with God´s help!) or otherwise. I am single, male, and already 28 years old. I would like to get married by next year with my fiancee. She doesnt have any application at Canada and will only rely on my petition. Will getting married next year will affect my application in terms of the length of time I need to wait before having the PR? what should I do? any suggestions or any similar situation?

it will delay your process, since your situation will be changed. Same as me, I have a Canadian girlfriend, we live together with her daughter, I have already submitted skilled worker last year, don´t really want to delay my case and include her or not will not gain point for me, because at the adaptability parts, I have already got 10 points. Furthermore, I don??t want to have a land mine with me in my family!
?? Hey Yijie, if you didn??t marry me, how comes you are still in Canada??
Don??t wanna this happen in the future.J

Since working and living have no problem at all, I didn??t bother to go thru common law class, and our future is not stable too.
Anyway, don??t get marry until you get your PR.

For my girlfriend and me, we don??t need marry to prove something, just want to enjoy today.

The best thing to do for both of you is to get married as soon as possible atleast the registered marriage and then add her into your application...

This will ensure that she gets her immigration along with you...

What she has to go thru is extra application fees and medical fees(which she would have to do anyways) .

So the best way is to get merried now and add your spouse...

Hi peeps,

thanks for your responses. If ever I would get married already, any idea of how many years would probably be added to my application?

another thing, due to the long processing period of the application i am planning to go to Dubai first to work there as an IT professional. If ever I will be given 2 years contract. And my concern now is, what if the request for passport arrives while I am in Dubai, what will happen to my application? could i tell to the canadian embassy that I am still engaged in a contract and will it be ok if i finished first my contract? By the way, i filed my application here in Manila, Philippines.

please advise. thanks.
