Many have asked how long it takes to process this or that type of application.
Posters here have claimed it takes YEARS to have your H&C application assessed.
We had a client who was previously refused when they submitted an H&C application come to us. Legal Counsel even complained to the Ministers Office to no avail.
That client felt they had excellent H&C factors and had heard of my firm winning H&C cases for others that had been previously refused.
We sent in her H&C application on Friday evening March 28th 2014 and she and her family were approved by letter received August 8th 2014.
Take a week off for mailings and it took us 4 months.
When you believe you have great H&C factors NEVER GIVE UP!

H&C is short form of the the term "Humanitarian and Compassionate". Where someone does not fit the technical requirements of any Canadian federal government immigration program he or she can ask for exceptional treatment, saying that serious hardship will be suffered by someone (not necessarily the applicant)if they are not allowed to succeed on their immigration application. It is a safety valve allowing officers to give someone special treatment in special circumstances.
There are some other safety valves built into the system as well, where an applicant can obtain special treatment in special circumstances.
Officers are told they can only say yes to an H&C application in exceptional circumstances, which in the immigration context means VERY exceptional circumstances.
You mentioned Roy´s name. Roy has lots of experience with H&C applications. If you think your case will be rejected unless if gets special treatment I am sure Roy would be happy to talk to you about that.

came to canada as a refugee 2010.. case rejected..
My H & C application approved in principle 3 months ago.
i am waiting for medical, security, passport request letter from CIC.. How long it will take?
also i don´t have a passport.i am very scared i don´t know how to get passport.. sri lankan embassy say that you cannot apply for a passport if u r a refugee claiment..
plz help me...
