| Subject: New Program by CIC to renounce PR status |

Dear Sir/Madam,
The government of Canada has proposed a new program to to voluntarily give up Permanent Residency.

This approach is very unsafe and incomplete for the following reasons:
The documents requested in the checklist(IMM 5783) are "copy" not "original".There could be chances of fraud wherein somebody could just send copies of Permanent Resident card and have the residency of an inncocent person cancelled out of revenge or malice.
Examples of people who could be victims of this program are:
1.Battered spouses of Canadian Citizens
2.Step children of Canadian Citizens or Permanenet residents.
3.Employees who had misunderstanding with their boss and did not leave the company on good terms.
3.Victims of identity theft.
4.People who engaged a representative to handle their Permanent Residence case
There could be many more new victims.
This new program definitely needs to be reformed.
Below are few suggestions to reform this program:
1.Original PR card should be requested from the applicant instead of photocoipes.
2.Additional documentation such as Affidavit solemnly declaring to renounce the Permanent residency should be requested from the Applicant.
3.The applicant has to be charged a fee a in order for his/her permanent residency to be annnulled.
4.There has to be an in person interview with the Visa officer where the applicant has to be present with his original documents and provide an explanation as to why he/she decides to give up residency.
