  Sharon,
I´ve read in a previous thread you have to call Paris on monday. Can you do me, and everyone processing through Paris, a favour and ask him/her if those processing times really jumped up that much the last couple of months, as stated on the CIC site ?
You never know, you might have a " casual chat" and ask it inbetween. Puleeeze....I´ll be in your debt for eternity :)

Hi John,

"Glad" to see there´s someone in the same boat as me...

I posted a message the other day about the apparent huge junp in the Paris timeline, and Sharon answered saying she would ask when she called on Monday. Just thought I´d let you know. You can read my post and her answer if you put "Paris" in the search field.

I can´t make head nor tale of the Paris times. The average for all visas lumped together still reads 5-12 month but if you look of the average times of the individual categories, they´re all between 24 and 36 months... Odd!

Anyway, let´s hope the good Sharon can get some sense out of them!

Best of luck!

Hi Swissguy,
I presume you´re Swiss :) , I´m Belgian and processing through Paris too, in the entrepreneur class.
I must have typed "Paris" in the search box a 1000 times on all boards :) but it still reamains one of the offices that has the most contradicting information time wise.
John

Hi John, well actually I am British but am resident in Switzerland, which is why I have to go through Paris. I will be applying very shortly as a Skilled Worker (Federal).

Here´s my original post which Sharon replied to, just in case it got buried under the deluge of posts!

I agree, the Paris timeline doesn´t seem to be easy to work out. However, Sharon speaks highly of the Paris office, saying they´re friendly and easy to deal with. Plus they seem to have dealt with her case quicksmart! So that´s the good news in all of this! Let´s keep our fingers crossed!

Answer (in reply to: Sharon...when calling Paris...)
Got an answer from our friendly officer in Paris. He is saying that clean, well presented skilled worker applications are being processed between 6 months and 1 year. There is some preference being given to certain skills but nothing unrealistic. IT skills are moving through faster than a Bachelors of Psychology. Makes sense.

As for the website and their horrible wait statistics for 2004... I do not get it.

Great Sharon....you´re a life saver :)
Looks like those stats and reality are 2 different things.

the last quarter of 2004 showed the shorter wait times. Perhaps the beginning of the year was wait list hell and it has skewed the averages. They say that past wait times do not necessarily reflect current and future waits. Don´t tell any of our posters that. Obviously this is one time when it is to our advantage to ignore the facts!

Sharon, you´re a star! Thank you so much for following up on this.

I am hoping to file my application by May at the very latest. I got my $9,800 together on my bank account, and I am just paying off some outstanding debt I got on my credit card before I apply. I don´t wanna get my application refsued over something so basic. I´d rather wait a couple more months!

At least with the info you have found out, I can still hope on the middle of 2006, assuming all goes according to plan (touch wood!)

Again, many thanks for finding that out! You´ve taken a large weight (and wait!) off my mind!

Get your application in now! Don´t be concerned about your credit card debt.(at least with CIC) They do not ask about your current financial status. All they care is that you have cash to land. Get going!

I think Paris does a great job with their application form. I do not know if it is the same for other embassies. Read the instructions very carefully and it will tell you exactly what they are looking for. Keep your information orderly, precise and do not be afraid to over supply them with supporting documents. What do you have planned for language proof? We applied in French.(but his destination is not Quebec) My fiance comes from Tunisia. French is one of their official languages and all his schooling was conducted in French. For him to get the CIC required testing it meant travelling to Algeria. Not a chance. So he managed to write a convincing document about his language skills. That together with the obvious use of French in the country made it acceptable to CIC.

CIC is not a big bad monster. All they want is verifiable, believable documentation.

Sorry Sharon, but I can´t believe what you´re saying. It´s been one year since I got my AOR and that´s all since then. I can´t believe that if you mailed your file in june or july you are close to the end of the process.
I´m attaching a "cut and paste" of the info that´s in the Paris Embassy web site. Just two comments: They say that priority is based on the date on which the file is received (under same visa applications) So why you are almost done and other people who sent the application before (more than 6 monts before) have just got the AOR? And second: Why should they publish wrong and confusing data? (both CIC and the Paris Embassy?
I would appreciate a good explanation.
Thank you.

"Permanent Residence Application

* within 3 months, a letter is sent acknowledging receipt of the application and giving the personal file number

* processing priority is based on the category (Family, Refugee, Skilled Worker, Business etc.) and the date on which the file is received

* the current, average processing times in Paris are:

o Family Class:
+ Spouse or dependent child: 6 months

+ Other: 24 to 30 months

o Economic Class:

+ Provincial nominees, Skilled Workers and Business applicants selected by the Quebec immigration authorities, Skilled Workers with confirmed job offers: 5 to 9 months

o Federal Skilled Workers and Business applicants: 24 to 36 months"
