Subject: Q about employer references - Will CIC understand? |

Hi all,
I just got a question regarding letters of reference from employers.
Obviously CIC is going to need to see somehting to this effect. They state that if you cannot get one from your employer, you need to state in a letter why this is so.
Does anyone know how understanding CIC is in this situation? The reason for my question: There often are cutbacks in the industry I work in. If my boss is forced to let anyone on the team go, I don´t want to be an obvious candidate for redundancy "because I am planning on leaving anyway". Therefore, I do not want to have to go to him for a reference.
Do you think that CIC will understand this? What I was planning on doing was letting them know about this, and instead of getting a reference from my boss, getting references from 2 colleagues in "sister" departments who know what I do and that can vouch for me. Do you think this would be sufficient?
Any help would be muchly appreciated!
Thanks!

(in reply to: Q about employer references - Will CIC understand?) Couldn´t you just ask your human resources department for a letter verifying employment. You can say it´s for the purpose of getting a loan, credit, or a mortgage. Be creative!
