Subject: FBI fingerprint enquiry
  Hello,

Do we need to submit the FBI fingerprint results (no record) along with the application for Canada immigration ? Seems it takes 6 weeks to get the results from FBI and thats a lot of time. Can it be submitted later ?
Also someone told me that police clearance certificates are valid for only 3 months from the date of issue .....is this true ?

Please let me know. Thanks.

NO you do not need the FBI prints till the CIC asks you...

The deal is that once you get the medical request or interview request you should get it done...

The FBI printing will require you to specify that these are for Canadian immigration along with the file no. So its advisible that you do it only when they ask.

Check the CIC site where you are applying. For instance at Buffalo CIC post it specifically says that do not do FBI until asked.

That is NO longer true. If you read carefully the instructions for Buffalo, they have changed it and the requested the FBI CC at the same time as your initial application.
go to : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37048.pdf
and it is clearly stated that:

Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office. Further instructions for obtaining a police certificate of no record from these authorities will be sent to you along
with your assessment letter from the Regional Program Centre (Buffalo) and medical forms.

The changed their plicies last october.
