Subject: Got My AOR today!!!!!!!
  Category: Skilled Worker
Office: Buffalo CIC
Applied: Oct 28th 2004
Cheque cashed by CIC: Nov 2nd 2004
AOR: Feb 26th, 2004
AOR Details: It says "This is to advise you that your application for permanent residence has been received at the RPC and that a file has been created for you"

Also it says "THE NEXT STEP --> Your file has been placed in queue awaiting assessment. All applications are processed according to the date on which they are received within the Federal Skilled Worker category. Once your file has been assessed, you will receive additional information and instructions. At that time, you may also receive medical forms with instructions. We cannot respond to requests for the status of your application until it has been assessed. (We are currently assessing files received 36 weeks ago.)

Hope this info helps.

Now for people who have already passed my stage, please do let me know all of you. So after 36 weeks will my IA be done or sometimes can it be sooner also or usually will it be done sooner also. Thanks.

so they found you!!!! great news. Make sure you get that change of address in. If your housing is precarious ...consider a post office box. you can move as many times as you want and CIC will never get confused.

Hi Sharon:

Yea..lol..they found me finally. Gosh this is ridiculous, it took 18 weeks for them to send them my AOR now its another 36 weeks to assess it..lol. Wow. Anyways, yea my housing in USA is precarious, Im a wandering man. So did you say I can use a P.O. Box. Is it ok with CIC if I give them a P.O. box address or are you suggesting something else. Please explain, also tell me will they send anything by mail from time to time within that 36 weeks they have given for IA. And is it good for me to take my IELTS now that my file is in process. I havent taken it at all, since I have an American degree and more than 5 years of USA work experience. Thanks Sharon..

I am suggesting a PO Box. otherwise you will go crazy thinking you have missed something. They could very well ask you for additional documents etc. while you wait for IA.

If your education is in the US...I do not see the point of english testing. (CIC is stupid but they are not STUPID) However, you should have included in your application a thorough explanation of your english training and usage. I am sure other folks on this site have done similar.

So youre saying, a PO Box is ok with CIC. I am asking you this because in the USA the USCIS (Immigration) doesnt accept PO Box addresses. So I really want to make sure before I change my address and notify the CIC to my new PO Box address. Also yes in my application I have mentioned and given good explanation of my English proficiency, work experience in English, also a hand written explanation of 2 pages towards my proficiency (because CIC Buffalo had returned my application packet twice, once for not filling out N/A or NONE in the blank fields and second time for typing up my English proficiency explanation, finally the third time I got it all right and they accepted it). Anyways thanks Sharon and please let me know about my doubts on the PO Box, has anyone done it or is there anyplace on the CIC website which specifically mentions that PO Box addresses are OK.

Let´s hope some US applicants can help us out. I know we have been OK with a PO in Africa. We lost our entire application because of no ability to forward mail... so I know this ugly story first hand. Maybe Buffalo has a different policy.
