Tickets to Tunesia shouldn´t cost you 2.700 cad, unless you want direct flights.
Djerba ( Tunesia ) is a quite popular vacation place for Europeans and we have charter flights leaving from places all over Europe to there that shouldn´t cost you more than 200 ? .Take a flight to Europe, I´m sure you´ll find them under 800 cad and book a charter to Tunesia out of Europe, seperatly .
Try that and you´ll probably end up with a ticket to Tunesia for around 1000 cad.

thank you. I will check that idea out. I am being told that I must fly into London, Frankfurt or Paris. Then go from there. 13 hour flight in all plus layovers.
It would be nice to find an alternative way because I want R to be able to travel back and forth as much as possible. His family things he is abandoning them. :)

I´m always flying yyz ( Toronto ) and Brussels-Heathrow-Toronto and back is on average 800 cad with British Airways.Air France and KLM can have some good deals once in a while but they all are between 700 and 900 cad taxes in.
But that´s to TO, don´t know where you are leaving from .
