You should rather reframe your question:

Is any one dissatisfied after immigrating to Canada ?

I am not sure if I can answer your question. I am not PR yet, if you checked my previous thread, people kick my ass here because I wrote too much about my life in Canada. Anyway. I pretty satisfy with what I have right now. Maybe because I came to Canada when I was 20 years old, I am 24 right now. I think I got less culture shock than most of buddies. Thanks for my assignment before I came to the new country. Hey guys, I know Bryan Adam, Sarah McLachlan. Thanks for the internet, I can watch CBC national before I come to Canada, have some basic knowledge. Why I am satisfied here? I am not talking about how much you earn or how much you can spend or even how many ways of entertaining. Actually I will earn much better in my home country (value of dollars) and have tons of ways to spent money. House, vehicle, gas, cosmetics, entertainment costs are more expensive than Canada. The money I bought a house in Nanaimo, probably only buy me a two bedroom back in East Asian. However, thing is like this, I don??t like previous life. I am not happy. You live in pressure, worry about your health, worry about your parent??s retirement. Much stronger competition in my country result nobody will respect individual rights.

Once I came to Canada, I found people are nice, so easy to find friends and buddies. They are less mean and I think Canada is the least crazy place I have been in the world. So far, after I have done my degree in university, I came back to my co-op education work place. No trouble get job placement. Everything is fine. I fish every weekend with huge load. (Can you believe you can pick up oyster, clams on the beach, unlimited, sorry sports fishing license required. Vancouver Island is a heaven for fishing) It´s a city never get bored, tons of trails for joggle and biking, every weekend there is culture related activities. People will say hi to you on the street even they don??t know you.I can not say there is some reasons I am not satisfied.

Please adjust your attitude to the new life. Same thing I discuss with you guys before, if you come to Rome, just do whatever Roma do. As Canada, the way you adjust your life attitude is much important than how much money you earn here. If you are not happy, you can do nothing.

Hey JS...
A very good question you put up here... Well let me tell you something about me.. I am from India and I came to Canada in 1998 on a student visa. Since thenI have stayed in Canada. I was like 20 when I came to Canada. That means I ahve lived nearly 20% of my life here. I am well adjusted here but I still miss the luxuries of being in India. People from India mostly have this view that we will work and make a good living in Canada. Its true you can have a good and decent living here... but still there are pros and cons about this place. And I hope you will agree that its true with almost everything.

In Canada the basic thing that I feel that kills people is the cold and Taxes. For cold you can put up one more jacket and be in a heated place and avoid winter but for Taxes there is no escape.

Also I feel that the government in Canada is not sure about wht exactly its doing... It wastes a lot of money in useless things. Mark my words the Govternment WASTES the moeny here... They have these hugh refugee programs where people take total undue advantage of the government plans. As a result the tax payers have to suffer and suffer they lot.

The more you earn the more taxes you pay, there is a point of time where a 35,000 earner and a 50,000+ earner end up making nearly the same. What a crazy system.

Auto insurance is high and unlike India we take the insurance on the people rather then the automobile so everyone in the family has to have the insurance on the same car rather having vice-versa.

Because Canada is a vast country (2nd largest) with less population the government has to provide services to the people living far off from the major cities that increases the cost of providing the services.

Also being close to the US, US market dominates Canada. No matter how much Canadians say that they are different and are independent and no offence to anyone but I see Canada just as the 51st state of USA.

Enough of CONS about Canada.

Inspite of these Cons, I still prefer Canada because,
I ahve lived here for 6+ years and the people I know and I hang around with them are all here.

Secondly, I like the cold weather and I dont mind it. Rather I have aqaited myself well with it.

Altough Canadian Tax system kills us it ensures that due wages are paid to the people as they work... I mean you work 1 hr you get paid for it which is not the case in India. A lot of companies in India may take undue advantage of you but its not the case here in Canada.

I live in Toronto and I find this place very mutil-cultural. Its lovely meeting people from different background. WIth different view points from different people I came to know that the glass can be half full as well as half empty. It expands your thinking power.

Canada has a clean environment... much better then India (some places) and I´d say better then US too.

Most of the government system is fair and I know that you cant escape the bureaucratic environment anywhere...

Anyways the list can go on and go on...

Now to the main point... weather Canada is good or not...

YES I give it a 7.5 out of 10.0 I´d defeintly like to like here... and I recommend it to all people who are young. If you are considering moving to Canada in your late 30´s or mid 40´s then there is no point coming here. This country will eat you raw...

And for the professionals who plan to come here thinking that they will transfer their degrees and experience here right away and start a better life in a year... let me tell you this... for next 1 year be ready to do odd jobs and be ready to do anything to survive. Its very unlikely that you come here and next day or in a week or so you will end up in a high paying job. Not at all... 6 months to 1 year for sure...

Saying this... let me end up with this... I have applied for my immigration in skilled worker category and I have completed my medicals... now waiting for the passport request.

Cheers,
HS.
