One of my friends has similar case. He did not get any letter from LA for about one year after his case was transferred. When he contacted, the reply was ´File in Process´. Eventually, his case was finalized in about two and half years (total).

But why do they transfer files like these from one office to another..is there any specific reason for that or is it just overload in Buffalo CIC?

Don´t they transfer the files to other offices when they are going to do interviews? (This is a guess.)

In USA if an interview is required then the file is transfered from Buffalo to one of the 4 consulates that handle interview cases for Skilled worker immigration applicantions.

The 4 consulates are NY, LA, Detroit and Seattle.

Transfer of files has nothing to do with the interview - it is merely distribution of load. My friend whose case was transferred to LA never attended an interview and his case was finalized.

It has been almost 3 months since they transferred my files . Should I call them and ask for the status?

What is your current status of application ? Is it just the file # ? I would suggest you to contact NY atleast after 6 months.

Keep your fingers crossed...wait for three more months and if do not hear any thing, then contact NY.

When the initial assessment is done it is determined if interview is required. If it is required then the file is transfered to one of the 4 consulates I have mentioned above.

In some cases after the file is transfered the immigration officer may decide that an interview is not required.
