Subject: For Sharon..........
  Hi Sharon,

I read one of your previous comments regarding hiring people for interviews. I was wondering if I gave you my resume and whether you could look at it to see if there are any grammatical errors and whether it fits to Canadian requirements? If you cannot do, I totally understand as I want to check with someone who is in Canada rather than in the US.

Thanks

Hi Yijie,

Actually I have done that. But, as indicated in this forum, it looks like getting a job in Canada will not be easy for a person who has worked in the US and I wont debate that because I know it very hard to get jobs after a couple of months of landing in Canada.

Thanks

Hey Ash,
The resume is in Canada follows a usual 2 page standard...

USA runs with a 1 page resume format... Although its not writen on the stone but this is what the general employer looks for. I have worked with a couple of career centers, and an employment agency...

About grammatical mistakes on the resume, Just use Ms Word or similar software or check on dictionary.com site or so and you can rectify the errors.

Anyways... Good Luck

Another advises for new immigrants, not like me, I was a visa student before I was in the college. I don´t have any financial support. You guys, once you came to Canada, you are PR. You don??t have to pay large amount of tuition fee. You are qualified for grant and interest-free student loan. Why don??t you guys go back to college? Consider our English and skills we have learned back at our home country are not exactly same as here. Please take a year off and go back to study, student loan can cover your living expense and tuition fee. Once you go to college, make friends, get connection, it??s far easy for you to find a job. You need know people before you do anything.

People always tell me student loan has to be returned. It??s true, however, it??s interest-free until 6 month after your graduation. If your program is several year long, according to time value of money and inflation, student loan almost like grant to you guys. As long as you keep GPA above C at college, you are qualified to have Millennium Scholarship.

sorry Ash... there is no way I can start checking resumes. I will have to quit my job and become an immigration consultant! Spell check is helpful. Ask a friend to read it. I never proof read my own work. I mentally fix my mistakes.

Don´t tell your life story on your resume. be prepared to adjust your resume depending on the job you are applying for. emphasize the skills that are relevant to the job so the employer can see how you could meet their needs.

good luck
