Subject: Moving to Canada on March 30, 2005
  Hi All,

I have made up my mind in terms of moving to Canada though I have certain anxieties.

1. What is the job scene for a PhD, professor of managment from IIM (no 1 business school in India)
2.How easy it would be to shift into corporate especially training and development function in an organzation
3. What would be the best city to settle in
4. We plan to be in toronto on March 30. What place should I find an appartment for a reasonable amount for a month or two. My wife and kids are travelling with me.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards

Amit

my guess is that you are going to need some interim employment when you arrive. It is going to take some time to make your education and work experience ´Canada friendly´. You will need to demonstrate how your skills and education is immediately transferable into the Canadian marketplace.

Have you done any research about this subject? If not, get started. You are the best one on this forum to answer your own questions because you know the subject.

Hi Amit:

I am a PhD student in Canada for the past three years - obtained my BTech and MTech degrees from IIT, KGP. Based on my experience, I found that reputations of some of the Indian institutes such as IIT and IIM is excellent in Canada. So I am pretty sure, you will be able to find some thing to start with. But, as everybody said before, you may have a tough time in the beginning and need to orient yourself towards Canadian expectations.

Wish you all the best.

u will find toronto pretty expensive, after all its the biggest city in canada, many people think there´s too many people, too much pollution, too much crimes, and a bad place to raise ur kids,
if i were you i would try a smaller city,

or if ure gonna live in a big city why not try vancouver, it is very multi-cultural there, and u might find it easier to find a job there, plus it is known to be the most beautfil city in north america, if u really care about nature..
