Subject: Starting new application
Hi, I am new member over here.
I work in US on H1 and starting the process of Canada Immigration application under skilled worker category.
I did research through Canada immigration web site, but I had few questions and would greatly appreciate your feedback.

1. The checklist for PR under Skilled Worker lists three categories for skilled worker
a. Federal
b. Provinical
c. Quebec
I am little confused about this as I thought the skilled worker category is different then Provincial Nomination and Quebec-Selected Immigration.
Which one should I select?
2. My uncle and cousin brother are Canada citizens, what kind of document I can use as proof of relationship?
3. Is it ok to send notarized copies of the university degree certificates if I do not have transcripts from my India university?
4. What document is recommended as language proficiency proof?
5. Are all the docs required at the time of first filing the application (like police clearance certificate), or is it possible to file with a certain docs and continue working on getting missing ones?

Thanks,
Jignesh.

Welcome ,
I have gone through the whole process this and last year and can share with you all info. ( it is ur job to find out if things are still valid ).
If you r on H1 then you got most of the things already and definitely qualify for the skileld worker class.
First, do a self assessment and find out the score urself.

YOU WANT TO FILE FEDERAL

I DID NOT HAVE ANUBODY THERE, SO DID NOT CHECK THE PROCESS> HOWEVER I BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED A AFFIRMATION LETTER FROM THEM. ( why bother if you r qualifying by ur own)

3. Is it ok to send notarized copies of the university degree certificates if I do not have transcripts from my India university?
I SUGGEST TO SEND BOTH. ALSO DO U HAVE your BIRTH CERTIFICATE READY ?? ( a birth certificate issued from some govt. agency or local municipality - not the one which hospitals generally issue. This is the most important document] . I belive you are not married , otherwise there are few more like marriage certificate etc.

4. What document is recommended as language proficiency proof?
You can draft a letter like I am attaching at the bottom of this posting. I gave this for me and my wife and it was well accepted.

5. Are all the docs required at the time of first filing the application (like police clearance certificate), or is it possible to file with a certain docs and continue working on getting missing ones?

without some critical documents, they won´t accept ur application and send it back. About PCC, I do not know if you have to take now with the application. WHen I filed in Nov.2003 , it was writtent there in the Application Kit that I have to wait till they ask for it ( because PCCs are valid for only 6 months). So first level docs along with draft and application goes without PCC. and at second level, they ask for PCC and also ask u to go for medical.

MY STRONG ADVICE IS TO FOLLOW LITERALLY WHATEVER IS WRITTEN THERE IN APLICATION PACKAGE AND INCLUDE ALL DOCUMENTS IN THE SAME ORDER AS WRITTEN THERE IN PACKAGE.

ENjoy my english letter at the bottom which worked for me and for my wife.

Subject: Explanation to establish English language Proficiency

I, XXX XXXX, have studied English language as a subject for a total of 14 years. This breaks down to 5 years in Primary, 7 years of secondary and 2 years at University level education.
I have attached the mark sheets for High school (10th), Intermediate (12th) and four University level mark sheets for session 198X-199X and 199X-199X with my immigration application, which clearly shows English as a subject taken at High School and University level. I have studied Grammar, composition, Business and personal Communication and English Literature.

Medium of Instruction at University level was English and I took extra efforts in improving my spoken English to prepare for future corporate world.
As the corporate language of India being English, I was interviewed in English for my first job as Graduate Trainee Engineer with XXX Engineering Company in 199X and also for all subsequent jobs in coming years. English has been the only language of official communication for me for last 9 years.

My work experience in the United States since June 19XX gives a clear idea about my English Proficiency levels. I have cleared multiple job interviews in English with the US based technology company XXXX SOFT Inc. in 19XX. After that I have worked with other US based companies like XXX.com, YYYYY Networks as a consultant that required a high level of English Proficiency to communicate with clients and working with their team.

English has been the only medium of communication at my present job as a Systems Manager at XXXXX INC. since May 200X that require extensive reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English.

English language has been the primary mode of social communication as well after coming to United States in June 199X.

With all above-mentioned facts, I reiterate that I am very proficient in English language and can read, write, listen and speak English very well.
