Subject: CAIPS NOTES Updates
I have applied in March 2004 at Buffalo and then I got the IA and Medicals and a request for updated documents...

I have submitted all the documents they require and also the $975 landing fee... now I see on the forum that many people have submitted their application a few months before me and still havent got the PP request...

Now if I get the CAIPS notes... I am sure they will let me know about the current status when they process it... will they update me as of what is going on and what are the developments... My basic concern is will the CAIPS notes people keep on updating me of all the developments as it happens or they just do the one time thing and you have to pay them again and again...

I am presently in Canada on a student visa.

it is a one shot deal. I am not convinced CAIPS is of any value to you at this point. You are past interview stage. All you are waiting for is your turn to submit your passport. Take a deep breath and save your money. It is only a matter of time.

Sharon,

If I were you, I would not say that. Last night I saw a person whose BDEC, MEDDEC and SELDEC were all finished but his case was still pending because of missing some documents which hadn´t ever been asked for!

HS, did your interview waive or something?
Sharon, believe or not, for people live in Canada, order CAPIS is not a big deal, just like get a credit report, have one has no harm to you, it´s better to have one rather than wait. Same thing, wait PP request and wait for CAIPS. However, CAIPS cannot answer all your questions, there are chances that make you confuse. It??s something like weapons of massive destruction codes.

I understand. but the poster is at the end of his application process. Just waiting for his PP request. How will CAIPS help him? It will not tell him how long he has to wait - so what is the point to order them?

Sharon:

I have a friend who has been waiting for his PP requests since last 7 months (like me). He got his caips notes last week and found that though his background check is completed and CIC is waiting for a police clearance certificate from Pakistan. Caips notes indicates this doc was asked at the time of initial assessment but nothing was mentioned in the IA letter!!! So I think caips notes would be useful at any stage of application.

If you go through your caips notes, you may find these kind of problems quite often. In my case, one of the officers had requested a background information form to be sent to me with my medicals. I never received that with other documents. Indeed, the officer who had sent me the medical forms, had forgotten to include background form. That caused a delay of a couple of months in my case. Later, they made another mistake and caused a longer delay that could never exist! So I do recommend getting your caips notes, specially if your timeline or circumstances seem very different from others who have files at the same time as you.
