Subject: Filipina wife to visit Canada with me. Possible? |
|

|
I have been married to a citizen of the Philippines for 16 months now. We have been living in South Korea for the past 9 months, and intend on staying for at least another 16 months. At some point my wife will apply to land in Canada, but this will not be for a while yet.
I am on a work-visa in South Korea, and my wife holds a dependant-visa, which is attached to mine.
I really want to bring my wife to Canada with me for a short visit, but I?m afraid she will be turned down. The application forms require her to list her income, employment particulars, etc, but does not include a way to explain her circumstances. She is unemployed and completely financially dependant on me ? the only way Korean law will allow her to be here with me.
I know that citizens of developing countries must usually meet certain criteria, such as own land, and earn a significant income, in order to satisfy CIC. My wife does not meet any of these requirements.
Is it possible for me to sponsor her to come with me for a visit, on a temporary resident visa? Is there no provision for an expatriate Canadian citizen to bring his dependant wife to Canada for a visit? Can my family officially invite her? Will evidence that I will return to Korea to complete my contract help my case?
Thanks in advance for any replies,
Mike

Pleeeeeeease respond (in reply to: Filipina wife to visit Canada with me. Possible?)
Gosh, I´d really appreciate a response to my query. Please, I just can´t get any information on my situation. There seems to be no information related to people living abroad bringing their dependant spouses to Canada for a visit.
