Subject: Proof of Work: Research Assistant

Hello,

I am a research assistant, but like the US or Canadian system my work is based on campus and I do not have a work contract ( I receive money as stipend just any Phd student does ).However,Canada counts this as work experience,so I do not have a work contract but I work, what I should do?

Regards

you should get a very nice reference letter from your supervisor! I would also add a cover letter in which you explain why you don´t have contract and pay stubs...

buddy, in your case you don´t have many choices...since you don´t have a contract, try to get a very nice and detailed reference letter...I think they would understand!

Get the following:

1. Letter from HR - University (You still are a state employee)
2. Letter from your supervisor.
3. Your W2 - showing that indeed you were employed at that time.

That is all needed. I did the same.
Pls. note your RA work will be counted half time - i.e. for 2 years of RA it will be counted as 1 year.

Hope it helps.

I am not very sure but some people also told me that it is counted half. But I am not very sure about that.Secondly there is a job cone in NOC categot for TA and RAs look for that it exactly matches with what RA do at a university. So there is no reason that they will not count it.But I am not sure if they count it as half or full.Hope it will help.I foyu are doing PhD then I supose that it must be at leats four year program so making 67 should not be a big deal

some reference letters from your supervisor will help, do you have your annual tax "statement of remuneration paid" which indicated how much CPP, EI, federal tax you have already paid. This will help too.

Most important thing is you have to provide a letter which indicates how many hours did you work, otherwise, CIC can determine by themself.

In Canada, if you work in campus, they gave you everything, T4, CONTRACT, Pay slip, I submit all those stuff

1) Get a detailed letter from your Supervisor for your work, or from the department about your work. This should state the nature of your work and your activities while you were working with the supervisor or the department.
2) you have to write a letter explaining your activities.
3) You have to give them the number of hourse worked at this job. A full time job consist of 40 hours/week so if you have the required work then you are good...
