I am presently in Canada.So it necessary to order it through caips.ca or Can I order it derctly. If yes then please let me know how to do it?

For those applicants who are already living in Canada, you can directly obtain CAIPS notes. Complete the form TBC 350-57 found here

For the federal govt institution, write CIC. Next field provide your immigration file number and mention that you want to obtain CAIPS notes. Complete the rest of the form and along with a $5 money order mail to

If your friend is obtaining the notes on your behalf write a cover letter saying that you authorise him to get the information on your behalf. Your friend will have to provide proof of his residence in canada e.g. copy of his PR card or passport.

If you are living in Canada you can get the CAIPS notes for free.
Mention in the cover letter that want your CAIPS notes under the Privacy Act (I am not sure if there is a different form for that. You can search that on the net)
