Subject: Permanent residency
I came to Canada on a visit and got married here. My husband is a canadian citizen and has been living in canada for 10 yrs.

I have applied for Permanent residency about 6 months ago to Vegarville as I live in Alberta. Just when I thought I would hear from the Immigration about confirmation of my papers for some reason they transferred my file to Edmonton. Aparently I have heard the process gets delayed further if the file moves from one city to another. I just wanted to check how much time does this kind of case generally take and what steps I could take to speed up the process?

Your valuable advise and feedback will be highly appreciated.

How are far are you from Edmonton? In similar situations, I would have talked to the guys over Edmonton directly.

Normally they transfer the file to local office if they suspect anything like authentic relations etc, is there a big age difference between you and your spouse? does one of you was previousely married? did you get AIP or any letter from CIC in these six months?

We are about 300 kms from Edmonton. Yes both of us were previously married and we submitted all documents related to our divorce.

But I am just surprised that despite of submitting all documents required why is there a delay in the process.

All in these six months ever since I applied the only letter I have received from immigration is confirming that they have received my documents and they have transferred the file to Edmonton and its still in process.

How much time do you think in such cases do they take to come to a final decision? Do you think there will be an interview also in such a case?
