Does obtaining caips notes has any influence on case processing ? More specifically, can it cause a delay in processing ?

Thanks Sharon and Yijie.

Not sure, if CIC keeps track of issuance of caips notes. Whatever it is, I had to order it as my case is pending at Buffalo since 7 months of medicals, after getting an interview waiver.

Looking at my IA letter, I still feel my case was very much straight forward. I was not asked to submit any documents other than the medical results, not even the RCMP clearance. Though I know about a few such cases, but who knows, CIC might be waiting for the RCMP clearance.

I guess because you live in Canada currently, they just do a name search instead of RCMP criminal record document. if my guess is correct.

Don´t worry, everything will be fine, however, you can ask for CAIPS if you like. could you please share your timeline? thanks. Did you submit IELTS scores or something

Yijie:

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I am from India and my education starting from primary school was in English. I am a PhD student in Canada for past three years - this might be the reason I was not asked to take IELTS.

Here is my timeline, but may not be of any help to you.

AOR: Jan 04
IA: July 04
Medical: Aug 04
Waiting for PP request.

Sent a fax to Buffalo two weeks ago but did not get any reply so far...

How about online case? Did it indicate that "medical received" or something else? If so, you can expect PP coming sooner or later.
I am pretty sure you are totally fine; still it´s fine to order CAIPS.

If you are PHD student here, i wonder what kind of work experience you claim? Back to work you have done in India? Or Canadian work experience?

The worst thing is that they are doing background check for you. However chance is limited, don´t worry about that.

Eveytime the CAIPS notes are requested by an applicant an entry is made on their CAIPS notes.

The immigration officer handling your case can look at your CAIPS notes.

But ordering the notes will not have any impact on your case.

Thank you all those who responded. I just ordered my caips notes. I believe it will be with me in about 6 weeks time.

Yijie:

There is no indication in the e-cas if they have received my medical results and ROLF.

Do you have any sensitive background? For example, did you ever work for the government or millitary service of India? If you did, highly possibility that you are under a background check. Anyway, you will get to know what is happening once you´ve got your CAIPS notes.
