initial assessment can also be termed ´a first look´. It is possible to be rejected at this stage if you have submitted an application that shows inadequate points, inadequate language skills etc. More likely, it is a point where the officer decides if it is a clean and clear-cut application and can be assessed without the need of additional documents or interview. That is the spot we all hope for. This is also the time when they ask for extra documents etc to help them make a conclusion on your file.

to answer your question... technically yes, it is possible to have your file rejected at this point

IA primarily involves background check based on those five or six factors - this is an evaluation process to determine if the applicant quaifies for immigration (67 points).

Basically, Canada is looking for young, well qualified, experienced, and law abiding immigrants who can establish themselves economically in this country.

Yes, one can easily be rejected during IA if the officer feels that the applicant would be a garbage for Canada.

What do you mean by that ? The letter that follows your AOR letter is usually the IA letter in which they talk about medical, interview, other documents, ROLF etc.

I would be surprised if this is different for any embassy !!!

holly, I wonder how many people were reject between the IA stage. Before applied, I guess most of people have general idea about how many points they will get. However, I am kind of worry that CIC has all kind of reasons to just reject you without asking additional documents.

Because I estimated my scores are somewhere between 68 if language is 16, still it´s kind of dangerous for me.I am thinking of back to UBC and take test after I got my AOR.

So will they expect the medicals and additional docs back at their office all at the same time ?
I have not sent FBI clearances, so I am expecting that one, medical and maybe the IELTS scores during IA processing. Am I justified in assuming so ?

You may think of submitting your IELTS score and PPC from India (?) before IA. That will save lots of time.
