Subject: Sposoring My Parents
  Hi

I filled my application to sposor my parent in September of 2003. Every time i call them or check the web site they have not processed any applications since June 24 2003. Is this correct???? Does this make sense, has anyone else had this problem? I live in Canada and my parents are living in England

Thanks for your help

"Sponsor your parents" group has been established in December 2004 by Mrs. Jenia Yakhnin in response to processing delays of parental applications.

SUMMARY OF FACTS:
1.In the last two years the processing time for those applications has increased from 159 days to 20 months and continues to increase every month. In fact, CPC Mississauga has processed no single application since March 2004.
2.Processing times in Canadian Embassies abroad increased as well. Current processing times for parental applications are about 5-10 years, depending on the embassy.
3.Quotas for parental family class immigration to Canada have been drastically reduced. In the 2005 the quota has been set to 5,500- 6,800 people as compared to 10,233 in 2004 and 19,376 in 2003.
4.The overall processing timetable for parental applications can reach 5-10 years!

WHAT WE DO:
1."Sponsor Your Parents" has written a petition to the House of Commons in order to address this issue.
2. As of March 14, 2005, the Petition was signed by almost 3,000 people (in 9 weeks).
3. Petition has been submitted to 10 MPs. 4 of them already presented it to the Parliament. 14 additional areas are currently collecting signatures.
4.Brief has been sent to The House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration. Our witnesses will appear before the Committee in April 2005 in Toronto.
5.Demonstration in from of Mr. Volpe office in Toronto. 500 people attended.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1.Go to http://sponsoryourparents.ca/petition.htm and sign the petition.
2.Tell all your friends about this site http://sponsoryourparents.ca and ask them to sign.
3.Write a letter to your MP and to the newspapers.
