What are the real expenses of properly importing my car so that i can sell it in Canada? Do I really have to pay sales tax on it [which sort of negates the point since i´m trying to get out of the loan and have more money].

Yeah its not easy... I´ve looked into it for myself...
You have a pay an application fee of $182
+ 7% GST on the current market value
+ you must pay to have the dials changed to metric
+ you must pay to make sure it falls within emmisions limits
+ you must notify the US dept. of Transportation that the vehicle is going to be permanently exported...
Honestly probably not worth it. I´m going to sell my truck in the states in the next couple months and buy something new up there. I´d rather take the ~$1000 and put it into something new [or something up to standards].
