Subject: Want to work / live in Canada.... options?
I´m from the UK, have a 4yr Bachelors in Architecture, 18mo of experience between my 3rd and 4th year of study as well as 18mo experience after graduation. All my experience is in the US.

I want to move to Canada ASAP... but not sure what the best option is.

I´ve seen that the two options are 1) Apply for immigration as a skilled worker, or 2) Get a workpermit.

My questions are... Can I apply for immigration as a skilled worker but also apply for a work permit, or will they not give me a work permit because they know I want to live there long-term because of my Immigration application?

If I go for the work permit option, how long can I work there?

I´ve seen a processing time of about 1.5-2yrs for PR as a skilled worker application... Is this correct? Also, I can´t find processing times for anywhere in the US?

Thanks for any responses!!

If you apply work permit, they expect you are temporary resident. You have to satisfy them that you will leave after your short-term work has finished. Therefore, you can not apply them at the same time. If you want to avoid 1?2 years long waiting process. I have a suggestion. Why don?t you apply work permit first and go thru Provincial Nominate Program, which only takes about 6 month.
You have to have a job offer first and get work permit later, just don?t show any intention of live in Canada permanently. Once you arrived in Canada, let your employer sponsor you as a PNP nominator.

I actually plan to apply thru PNP last year, however, my supervisor had to discuss this with their union first, then nothing heard back. After almost one year of research, they inform me I actually can apply thru PNP, however, once I have already applied thru skilled worker, I can?t go thru PNP. Damn it.

For you, if you can somehow find potential employer, just ask them to do PNP for you.
