| Subject: Should a child who is US citizen be included in PR |

We have applied for PR and I just got papers to go for medical. Last month we had baby. Since we are in US, the baby is a US citizen. Does the baby need to be included in the PR application or we can ask not to include him? Can he travel to Canada with us on his US passport and stay there with us after we get our PR and not include him in the application? As per my knowledge US citizens can travel to Canada without Visa so he should be able to enter Canada with us on his own US passport. Ee would like to save the formalities of getting him included in the PR application and save some processing time.

Hi there,
Technically, it is better to add your child under the petition. He can come and go any time being a US citizen, but would not get the benefits of PR such as medicals, education, etc.
And, adding him for Canadian PR would not affect his UCC.
Just my opinion.

Can the child be included later i.e. after our petition has been approved. The only reason we don´t want him to be included right now is the time. Including him would cause more delay becuase his birth certificate and passport are not yet ready and then CIC will need to send another medical form and the medical has to be done - in short delay of few more months.

Hi,
If you are applying for PR then YOU MUST NOTIFY CIC. Things could be delayed but your application will not be in jeopardy.
Your application could be disqualified IF YOU DON´T INCLUDE CHILD NOW!

Yes, you can add the dependent later. I am in the final stage and recently have sent a notorized letter indicating my child will stay in my home country for education and i will apply for her lateron. But you need to update your file and they will ask for the medical of the child. Even the non accompanying child go for the medicals.
Please NOTE that my case is not yet approved. I have made sure this is possible and the reason they asked me to provide the DETAILD ARRANGMENT FOR THE NONACCOMPANYING CHILD is that people do it.
